2 pairs, enough to breed RETF ???

pantera142 Sep 13, 2006 02:24 PM

I have 2 pairs of RETF; 2 females, 2 males. I have a rainchamber and am going to take care of all the necessaties like high humidity and high temperature during the rain season, and pool of rainwater. I was just wondering if 2 males and 2 females is a big enough colony for them to produce eggs.

It may work but the key to sucess seems to be to have more males than females in a breeding group.

Its better with more males because of competition i'm guessing. . .

Should I separate the males from females before the "rain season" then put them all in the rainchamber?

If you don't mind me asking, what does your rainchamber look like? How did you construct it?

I took an old kitchen cabinet, added a screen top and glass doors. I lined the inside with a plastic laminant. I am going to add vertical and horizontal PVC pipe and vines and plants. There is going to be a pool of water at the bottom and I am thinking about buying a misting system.
I will post pictures later today

From what I have been told, a 3/1 ratio of males to females works well. Here is a good site to check out.
