feeding success!!!

balisong Sep 13, 2006 06:32 PM

After about 4 weeks my grey-band has eaten. I just want to thank everyone who helped me with feeding tips. I wish I had a pic to show but the only picture I have is blurry.

If anyone has a problem feeder just bump up the temp to about 90 - 100 degrees F., then wash the pinkie with ivory soap, after that scent it with a house gecko or you can use lizard maker which is made by T Rex and it scents the pinkie with just one drop (Ebay sometimes has it or a local reptile store). Now just leave the pinkie alone with your snake for awhile. I can almost garuantee your success.

Congrats. I know how good it feels when a stubborn feeder eats for the first time. Be careful with those high temps, though. They can be deadly.

i use house geckos to get mine feeding.. Actually, I have had the same 4 or 5 house geckos in the freezer for many years...

i have also tried Lizard Maker on Alterna hatchlings and on Chondro babies but it has never once worked for me... I have even tried lizard maker on hatchlings that take house gecko scented pinks with no success???

Congratulations on getting that problem feeder eating....I know how hard it is to get alterna feeding. I also have to mention I have had zero luck with "Lizard Maker"....in fact, I would go so far as to say it is totally useless....IMO....anyway, congrats again on a feeding alterna....now watch the animal take off.....

I have had Lizard Maker work on a few individuals, even some that would not take pinkies scented with real lizards. Granted it was only a few that it worked on but I think it is worth having as part of an arsenal of tricks.
