I Just Can't Win--Trip Postponed AGAIN

chris_mcmartin Sep 13, 2006 08:05 PM

First due to wife's birthday, now [workplace] wants me to [take business trip] the following weekend (22-24 SEP).

Does anybody have any data regarding frequency/diversity of snakes found the LAST weekend in September in the Trans-Pecos? I don't think I'd totally be wasting my time, especially if I found some good flippin' spots (not looking solely for greybands, obviously).

I have had some good trips out that way when I saw no herps at all myself. I just enjoy that part of our landscape....

BTW, I still did not get an email from you, my KS.com account is so old that it may still point to old my flash.net address. Just email me direct...

Same here. I'd prefer to see herps too, but I enjoy just getting out on the road, listening to some good music, and forgetting about Everyday Life for a spell. I've always been partial to lizards anyway, so maybe I'll see some mountain boomers to make it worth the (recently cheaper) gas money. I might also hit Balmorhea to check out the spring and maybe snorkel with the turtles.

Dangnabbit! I tried a couple of times, will try again.

If you make it out towards Balmorreah (or however it's spelled), send me an e-mail. It's but a couple hours away from my place. I'm all for a herp trip before the season ends...

Chris, we had a very good trip the first week of Oct. last year with blacktails, mojaves, w. d-backs, prairie rattlers, 2 hognose, tmtc gophers, a splendida, and a striped whipsnake. The night time temps held at 70 with the cloud cover for us and it was good. I will do another Oct. trip for subocs and splendida this year. Good luck!
