Black milks at the San Antonio Zoo

nategodin Sep 13, 2006 09:35 PM

Hello,
Here's a picture of the black milksnake enclosure at the San Antonio Zoo, taken by a friend of mine who lives there. (In the city, not the zoo!) It looks like a pretty nice setup; with all that stuff to hide under/behind, she was probably lucky to catch it while it was out and about.

I'm still waiting for the '06 clutch to hatch; most of the eggs are very dented now, so hopefully there will be some little heads peeking out in a few days.

All of the SA Zoo setups are very nice.
The black milks are almost always up and within view. I wish the Pituophis lineaticollis would be more cooperative so I could get a decent photo!

Here are some of their other exhibits. Well worth a visit if you are in the Alamo City!

Thanks for sharing that picture. That was cool to see. We all talk about San Antonio Zoo line black milks and it was nice to see one of them in their set up.

It must just be my imagination, but look at that Black Milk. It looks like it's body goes on forever.Maybe it's some kind of optical illusion with them being black and pearly like the inside of a shell or, maybe it's just me. I've noticed it in other pics of them too.I assume the head to length ratio is the same as any other Lamp.Oh well, they are beautiful.
Bob.
