Hi I got a question about Worms

Mountaindragon21 Aug 05, 2003 11:48 AM

I usally buy my worms from the fishing store but I wanted to know if i can harvest my own worms from my dads backyard he has 2 acres and pestiside was not used. So would it be a good idea or not? By the way I will post up soon on some pictures of my lizards = )
Thanks,
Matt & Mich

you can, and I M glad to hear that Ur dad is interested in keeping with the organic way of doing things
U would do best to look in the compost pile (the house one, not the barn one)
but be sure that U do not dig down hill of someone else who might be using fertalizers, or peciticides, or within 2 miles of flat tablewater (they can travel in the watertable, and still contaminate the worms)
I grew up on an organic farm too (way back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, and dirt was clean)
Take care, nice to meet U

I used to be organic too! LOL!! I had 1/3 acre in a small town and in the 25 years I lived there the garden changed from clay to nice humousy (sp its late) soil. I put up many a jar of tomatoes and applesauce. For about 5 years all was fertilized with rabbit droppings and lawn clippings. I thing there were a few dinosaurs back then too!! LOL!
