natural balance reptile diet sausages?

senorsnake Sep 14, 2006 11:39 AM

I posted this last night, but for some reason it got deleted. I figure i'd leave out the link to it this time in case that was why- so just google the product if it interests you. Does anyone use this? I've never heard of people feeding anything but rodents... are these sausages better for them? Will snakes actually eat them?

Well, I did a google search. I found the product you're talking about, but I can't find a place that sells it locally. If I could find it, even if I had to drive a few hours, I'd try it. I know that snakes will eat it. I thought it was a pretty good idea and I wanted to try it to see how my boas would do, but I can't try it if I can't buy it.

As far as it being healthy for your snakes???? I guess I'd have to try it on one before I'd know that. Sorry.

The website i saw you could call in and get a qoute, and they ship it out. We were considering trying it for ours that eat f/t, just wish that i could have a comparison of it vs. rats. I guess a downside of it would be if you fed it to neonates that maybe people who purchase them from you may have a hard time switching over to rats if thats what they used.

When a Boa eats a rat, they are getting every mineral, every vitamin there is, which is why they do not need suppliments like lizards and tortoises do. You would think that it would be rather expensive to make a suasage that contained as much nutrition as a rat. Certainly more expensive than a frozen rat!
Personally, I would never feed my Boas something like that. They've been eating rodents since the first Boa slithered out of the cosmic ooze. I'll stick with what's proven thank you!

thanks for the opinion! I just came across it last night while looking for snake hooks... I'd never heard of it so thought i'd ask if anyone ever used it or if it had any benefits.
