Coroplast cages help

stormwulf133 Sep 14, 2006 04:05 PM

I am considering making Coroplast cages for several of my reptiles. A baby redtail boa, 3 corn snakes, and 2 bearded dragons so yes it will be totalling 6 cages. I want them stackable. Is this even possible? I have no clue how to go about doing this, can anyone give me any tips here? Will coroplast be heat resistant enough to stand up to the temperatures of bearded dragons? Can I use the colored coroplast or should i use white only? How do I make doors? are there any plans online for this? I couldnt find any. How do I install heat lights? vents? bahhhh! If only I had money I would just buy Animal Plastics or Boaphile cages.

I have a picture of some chorplast cages saved somewhere on my computer. They were arboreal gecko cages, IIRC, but were not stacked. I think the plastic was riveted to aluminum framing.

I never found out who the cages belong to nor do I remember who sent me the picture. But if you email me through KS's messenger service I'd be happy to send it to you, assuming I still have it.

I do think building stackable cages from this material is possible. However, I think the framing would be just complex enough that it might be worth considering another design and material.

What are your reasons for using the choroplast? Light weight and low cost?

Lastly, I would not use it for the Bearded Dragon. I used a 60 or 100 watt pearlco to heat my last dragon and the top of the cage got very hot. I would not trust it.
