Baby Bearded Question asap?

crazydragon Sep 14, 2006 04:29 PM

We aquired an approx 2 wks or so, baby beardie from the elements. Our question is how many crickets will a liitle one eat? He's 4 1/2 inches long. Brought him home, put him in a ten gallon tank with heat lamp (95 degrees) and uvb light, the floor covering is a shelf mat. He ate 10 the first day, 6 yesterday, ate 3 so far today. we feed him 4 to 5 times a day and a 20 min daily soak besides giving him water. Are we doing ok, is there anything else we should be doing? We have a 15 inch dragon, but are not sure of what a small size requires as we have never had babies. And we don't want to lose him, found on 9-11-06. He's in the tank him self.

Hi
110 - 115 i use for hotspot for babies 95 is to low .
also a heatmat/hotrocks is not recomended .
normal they say give so much cricks what they eat in 5 min .
and not bigger then the space between the eyes .
uvb/uva light is needed like a reptisun 5.0
i think this must help you .

Sounds like your feeding enough, im no pro but i would defintily recomend raising the temps as was mentioned earlier to around 110 to 115.

Also I would cut down on the daily bathes. Some people may disagree but that seems like a lot of stress for a baby. Make sure he has a water bowl to get to although he probablly will not drink from it. If your worried about moisture mist him every day or so! Just my opinions.
