new snake owner dumbass mistake 2

captotterboy Sep 15, 2006 10:12 AM

SO a couple of weeks ago i made the mistake of not washing my hands before handling my Kingsnake and she bit my finger cause it smelled like and had the same texture of a pinkie mouse. Well i made another similar mistake.

Looking at my finger after the event below happened i noticed how very much, when viewed from streight on, looks like a nice yummy pinkie mouse...

DONT STCK YOUR FINGER IN THE MOUTH OF YOURS SNAKES CAGE WHEN SHE IS CURNED UP INSIDE AND LEAVE IT THERE!!!!

I was reaching for something in the cage with one hand and must have had my fingertip of my other hand resting right at the moouth of the cage. From inside, it must have looked like the butt of a mouse hanging down from the top of the cage. Being the agressive eater she is, she bit it. She held it for a second until she realized that it was attached to my hand. At this point she crawled out of her cage to investigate what i was doing to her water bowel.

i am a dumbass. Once again i am glad this happened when she is 16 inches rather than 60.

Once she starts eaching bigger food i hope she will loose interest in my fingertip.

LOL

Welcome to the club!

I've had hungry Kings not just bite, but constrict and try to swallow my finger!

Your snake is HUNGRY!

Feed the Need!

Enjoy,

I had a snake do the same thing some years back, while I was changing the water and suddenly he was attached to my finger, which happened to be clean without the smell of a mouse. That was a Kenyan Sand Boa, hiding under the sand and man was he quick. That's another reason I like Kings much better, you can see them more often and I haven't found them to be quite as predatory as that sand boa. But they can certainly move fast when hungry, that's for sure. Washing hands, being aware of the snakes location as much as possible and like the other forum reader suggested, keeping him well fed will benefit both of you. Good luck.

lol That's funny Don't feel bad. It happens to the best of us. Even the guys that have been doing it for 20+ years still get chomped once in a while. Like you said better to get it over with now than to wait till it can fit more in it's mouth.
