Going to Kingman Arizona!

jasonmc Sep 15, 2006 01:47 PM

So I need to go to Kingman Arizona this Sunday evening to handle some legal matters of my brothers on monday! While I'm out their, I would like to do some herping. Does anyone know of some good spots to find some nice snakes. Like usual, I dont plan to take anything, I just like to photograph. It would be cool to find some Black tails, Diamonds, and especially a Rosey! However, finding anything is always great!

Thanks:
Jasonmc

Hey Tommy,
Thanks for the email. I'm gonna hold on to those locals for another day!
I actually live in the San Fernando Valley, Reako and I just do alot of crusing to see what we can find!
It would be cool to meet up some time and see what we can find!
Just give us a shout when you move out!

Lucky dog... OK legal business, maybe not, but still take some good pics of whatever you see.

Safe travels,

Sheez,
I drove 125 miles between 29 Palms/ Joshua Tree, through Amboy, and found a little town called Essex pop 100, and then proceeded on to the 40 and found no snakes. I did'nt even see DOR's. I found a huge Owl, two foxs, 1 coyote, a chipmunk, and maybe a dozen kangaroo rats.
This was all on the eve of the 17th/18th between the hours of 12:am and 0400. So today, after I got out of court in Kingman, I decided to try my luck again at 5 P.M. And would you guess it! Not a thing, thats 250 miles with no reptiles.
So Bummed, I guess it makes up for all the luck I have in Lancaster! Or maybe its because Reako was'nt with me.

Oh Well,
Happy Herpin;

Sounds like a bright moon phase do to seeing all those snake preditors.

the lunar phase and predators, not true in my 40 years of observation and was wondering about anybody else. I've docu as many or even more predators on the dark of the moon sometimes as the full moon. It kinda goes back to the myth included about more snakes being seen on the waxing, dark, and waning lunar phase. Because of the theory, hypothesis and or rumor, there are less people trying or observing because of and the above goes on. I mean if I can find the high nocturnal species of snakes at full moon that includes subocs, alterna, leps, lyres, night snakes to name a few..............

Nocturnal birds and mammals have the ability to amplify moonlight making prey easier to spot during full moon.
