Where do I buy vermiculite and coco fiber substrate because all the pet stores by me do not carry these. If someone could just list a few sites which are reasonably priced. Thanks very much.

some days you're the dog, some days you're the hydrant...don't know who started this saying but it's the truth
It was recently discovered that Vermiculite contains Asbestos, so it is being pulled off the shelves. I would recommend Perlite as a substitute. I've hatched lots of eggs incubated in Perlite, it works well.
Where can I find Perlite??

I think Home Depot or Lowes (gardening/hardware stores) will carry either. Both are used frequently in potting soil to help retain moisture.
I think vermiculite is the lava rock equivalent of popcorn. Basically gets heated until it explodes and cools. Maybe that's perlite... not sure.
One thing I do know is that not all brands of vermiculite contain asbestos. There might be markings to that effect on the package. If it says "cancerous to the state of california" then it probably does but then again everything seems cancerous to the state of california.
