Are lightbulb/ceramic emitter cages (intended to prevent direct contact between the animal and heating device) available in the US? The only sites I've seen offering these were in Australia.

Big Apple has one and I know I've seen one in petstores that is made from a thicker/chromed wire.

Try Big Apple Herp and LLL Reptile. Often, LLL will have various items that do not appear on their website, and they can get almost anything if it exists.

Also, ZooMed makes a ceramic socket with a thick wire cage that will still let a snake through. But, you can wrap this thick cage with hardware cloth and make a snake-proof bulb guard.
