German Giant or not

Izzythegiant Sep 15, 2006 06:12 PM

I was just wondering if this Beaded Dragon is a German Giant or not. He turned a year old not even a montha ago. He lives in a enclosure that is over 7 feet long by 5 feet wide and 2 feet tall. If he is not a German Giant then I would like to no what type of breed he is please. Thank you

YOu certainly have a HUGE cage for him Far as I know there is no visual way to tell a germon giant from any other bearded dragon. They do not look any different. What sets German Giants apart from other dragons is they have been bred for size and vitality. Your dragon certainly is a healthy looking dragon. What is his size and weight? That can be a good indication if he comes from GG lines.

He is over 2 feet long and he eats 250 crickets every 1 to 2 weeks he is a monster.

wow he's a big guy...does anyone have any pics of a german giant in relation to something...i always see them in pictures by themselves so there really isn't much of a way to tell their true size

This is a full German Giant male along side the tape measure to verify his length and beside "CC" (Carbon Copy- she looked just like her mom- ZillaXGoldfroggy) from Joel Roberts and Sandy ImportXYellowDragon.

CC is only 6 months old here, and she ended up over 600 grams, Sandy is an adult in this photo and also over 600 grams

The male weighed 1048 grams, almost 26 inches, verified in weight and length at the 2004 Daytona Breeders Expo, he was thought to be the largest bearded dragons in captivity in the US. If anyone has a dragon over 2 feet long, please place a tape meansure next to it and take a photo and post it so we all can see, since it is so rare

Giving his size, then I am pretty sure he is a German Giant, maybe even pure GG. Just make sure you are giving him plenty of greens. 250 crickets every week or two seems alot even for a voracious appetite. Are you feeding crickets every day or just a couple times a week? Adults only need about 10% insect food a day in their diet, with greens making up the rest.
