There are several programs you can use for working photos. I use Photoshop. Photoimpact is often included free with some scanners.

The standard is 72 dpi for most computers, 76dpi for Mac. most cameras use 72 dpi for resolution, some use various resolutions. Using one of the photo programs, set the resolution at 72 dpi, resize the dimensions to whatever you want. I recommend not more than 800 pixels wide, not more than 600 pixels high.

It will depend on your camera...some cameras have a menu in the 'set up' or 'image quality' menu that will say 'resizing'. This will allow you to lower the size of the image before you upload it to your computer. This is the only way I know how to do it, there may be others. I just got my first digital camera and had the same problem. At 5 megapixels, all my images were way too big to put on kingsnake.com. Good luck!
