NYC Exotic Ban

Samcin Aug 05, 2003 12:59 PM

It appears that NYC is not enforcing the ban on exotic animals and many iguana owners do not even know that there is a ban.

So, while you are fighting this law, ask what is so important if NYC isn't enforcing their law? Laws should all have a reason that requires them to pass the law.

True, yet the majority of pending animal bills in NY state are being introduced by Senators and Assemblymen from the metro NYC area. The demographics of the state is so skewed, that NYC policy will dictate what goes on in the Hudson Valley, Adirondacks, Finger Lakes, etc. It's ridiculous.

I understand that the proposed Chicago ban is based on the NYC ban.

It may be that the people in NYC are writing most of the animal bills.

Bottom line is that you must write it before you can get any senator to sponsor it.
