Brooksi Pricing?

Geckofanatic23 Sep 16, 2006 11:23 AM

Hey everyone, I've decided to go with Brooksi! I just have a quick question. What is average pricing for a normal juvenile snake. A reptile specialty store near me had young adults for $115 each. They weren't any color morphs. I'd rather pick one out myself, but there aren't any shows locally. If I have to mail-order, can you guys refer me to a good Brooksi breeder. Thanks!

$115 is way to much for a normal yearling. A het for nothing normal yearling should be around $30-$40. Males will be less than females. So keep that in mind. If you just want one snake as a pet then get a male. Males get bigger and have better (lighter) color as adults.

If you buy from a pet shop you never know what you will get and who has had the snake. Better to buy breeder direct. Pet shops are not a good resource for the heathiest animals.

How about some pics of those brooksiXspeckled/everglades rat kings?

The crosses are sold. I have one female left but she is not that nice. I will try and get a pic of her later.

The snout looks a little longer than what I expect in a Florida king, but otherwise it looks no different from a hatchling "brooksi". Thanks for the pics.

Thanks for the pricing tip. I called him after posting and found out that I heard him wrong about the pricing on his brooksi kings.(My younger brother was making noise in the background, which made it difficult to hear his prices.) He has a yearling for $50 and two proven adults for $115 each. I never buy from pet stores, all of his animals are bred by him or by other breeders. He has a big snake room with all of the animals in racks in the back and animals for sale are placed in display cages in the store itself. Thanks for the help!

Keep in mind when ordering via the internet that you will have to pay shipping. So while a 50 dollar animal is cheaper than your petshop animal once you tack on 40-60 dollars to ship (depends on location) its back up over or close to the price of a Petstore animal. Im not saying one is better than the other just keep it in mind. Also Petshop animals sometimes arent the healthiest of specimens. Check them well before purchase and make sure they have a guarantee.

At the Sac show, hatchlings that were HET (I forget what for) were $45.00 if I remember correctly.

Maybe they sold all the babies that exhibited the trait they were HET for, but I am always scared of hatchlings sold as HET when that is all that is being sold.
