Creamsicles are amelanistic snakes derived from crossbreeds of corn snakes and Great Plains rat snakes. The amelanistic mutant came from the corn snake side. It is recessive to the GP rat's equivalent of the corn snake's normal allele.

so, are you saying that if you took a creamsicle x corn het amel, you would get the same thing as you do in corns?? (50% het amel, 50% amel?)
So is it the same thing, and if so, how are people selling "het creamsicles"?

You dont have to keep answering these questions!! You've done enough already. Feel free to just quit and I wont be offended.

You got it.

A creamsicle is not the same as an amelanistic corn. As I wrote earlier, the creamsicle is derived from a Great Plains rat snake x corn snake cross. The Great Plains rat and corn are either different subspecies or different but closely related species, depending on who you talk to. The amelanistic mutant gene came from the corn snakes side. AFAIK, the aim was to produce a more yellow rather than red amelanistic snake.

A "het creamsicle" could be heterozygous for amelanistic. Or it could be from a Great Plains rat x corn cross that was mated to a corn. As creamsicles aren't my bag, I haven't paid much attention to how they are described. That's a question to ask the breeder.

I see on the other thread that you learned genetics from Reptimania. IMHO, it's not the best genetics site. I think both ballpython.com and serpwidgits.com have better stuff. Not that I consider either perfect. 8-)

A week ago I e-mailed reptimania with some constructive (I hope) criticism. No e-mail response yet, and I haven't been on that site since Friday. Have to check it soon to see if there have been changes.

OTOH, you have learned to do 3 locus Punnett squares from Reptimania. That is not a small accomplishment.

+ + + This line is a test to see if three plus symbols post.
