Dimpled Eggs

venomlust Sep 16, 2006 02:27 PM

Do dimpled eggs mean there's too much moisture or not enough? I forget :/. I apologize for the novice question but I'm incubating my first clutch of eggs and I want to do as much as possible to get it right.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I read somewhere that dimpled eggs usually mean slightly dry, but that it's safer for you to be slightly too dry than too moist.

I'll check and see if I can find the reference.

Dimples are from lack of humidity. I always use http://www.albeysreptiles.com/incubate-eggs.htm . This year I had a 95% hatch rate and didn't have to add water once.

I would say there is not enough moister. Eggs can also dimple just prior to hatching. Good Luck!

My eggs had too much moisture and the first few did not hatch and they darkened...I also had a couple collapse. But I let the mixture get dryer and then they all hatched after that and I never added any more water!

Have you posted pictures of your hatchlings yet? Because if you haven't, DO IT, because I want to see them.
