Splendida VS Nigrita-ers, looky here

Nokturnel Tom Sep 16, 2006 09:55 PM

I was trying to snap off a shot of this huge MBK that was the last to hatch, its egg was way larger than average. The flash made it look like a totally different snake. The faint patterns on these which only lasts til they shed once is standing out and easily visible in this pic. Just figured I'd post it since it was discussed recently. This guy is FAT! Tom Stevens

Someone in another forum reported that they crossed a nigrita with Nitida king, and the offspring looked an aweful lot like splendida.

It would be an interesting cross to try - see how often that occurs.

That is interesting. I have a melanistic "thayeri" that revealed a decidedly unthayeri pattern when photographed. You can't see it with the naked eye.

You can certainly see a lot more "pattern" in some snakes when you use a flash or sometimes just plain ol' sunlight.
The stripes on your thayeri are definitely something unexpected to me. Almost Cal like??
Have any more pics like that?
Thanks for sharing.

...can you imagine if that snake was a buckskin w/ that pattern??!! I hope you keep taking those pics of him as he ages.
Thanks.
