What am I?

thejoie Sep 17, 2006 12:29 AM

I rescued a beardie a while ago. A family got her and didn't know what they were getting into and had her in a 5 gallon tank no lights, on sand. think of everything wrong you could do...they had it.
I took the little starving thing in, named her Molly.. fattened her up, got her the proper things she needs. I'm guessing she's about 3 months old. My only question is what morph is she? I'm guessing a normal cross but she has some nice orange markings.. any ideas?

She could be some sort of Sandfire Cross. I have a Sandfire x Snow cross that looks a little like that.

My vote would be a probable Sandfire cross too. Congrats on your new addition, and thank you for saving her. Your story sounds exactly like the situation my second beardie was in when I got him at about 4-5 months....the guy that I got him from didn't know anything. When I saw Dunkin (my male bd), he was in an empty glass aquarium in the car during the winter-- with no heater on! He had also never been fed any greens, had only a heat rock, and had only been fed canned crickets. His eyes were half moons, he was in such poor condition. Looking back, I really should have kicked that guy in the a$$, but I was still a beardie newbie and didn't put the pieces together until later on. Now, Dunkin is a happy, fat momma's boy and is my favorite (shhhh, don't tell my others! lol). And, as an added bonus, he is a Sandfire cross himself, and has grown into a beautiful yellow-orange dragon with big blue sidebars. It amazes me how people can aquire pets and not know anything about them. I'm just glad that your little one now has a good home. Good luck!

It seems most of the Pet Stores that are selling the Bearded Dragons and other Herp's now, don't know any more about them then the new reptile buyers buying them.(JMO)

seriously, I have no idea how people can just get things because they look cool and not put any thought into what it's going to take to care for the animal.
Molly wouldn't eat greens, it took her a month to finally start eating as many crickets as I would like her to be eating.
Now, she's a pig and has shed twice already.. she's catching up in size!
