Hello everyone. Next weekend I will be picking up my friends breeding cresteds. He has been breeding for 6 or so here and over 1 month ago he had a Heart attack, then a stroke. He will not recover enough to continue breeding. So his wife has asked us to contiune his breeding colonies. I am very familar with many reptiles and warm blooded. But semi new to cresties. I have three of my own( pis below) My questions are:

His eat crickets, CGD, baby foods but as a Beardie breeder I was wondering if cresties have a size limit like baby beardies?
Also I have a reptile room where my bearies and Leopard geckos are bred. I can get near 90 degrees if the door is shut. I know this is too hot for cresties so please let me know the lowest temp and the highest temp that can live it without stress?

On substrate, he has always used either reptile carpet or papertowels. I notice that when sprayed the paper towel ends up pretty wet. Is this bad for them and if so what do you suggest?

And lastly his colonies are 1.5 in a 40 gal tank. If I need to put them in a 20 tall tank how many is OK to keep together. I was thinking either a 1.2 or 1.3.

Please respond as soon as possible. This board seems very slow but I have been on Kingsnake for quite a while now and love it here. I am getting the big Crested Gecko book any day now but thought hering first hand knowledge would be the best way to go. Thanks in advance...... Deb

What he's feeding is good. You want the female cresteds to be at least 35 grams to breed. 90 degrees is definately too hot.. 80 degrees is pushing it, but it can't go any higher than 80 degrees or any lower than 65 degrees. Paper towels are fine... people have had trouble with the carpet because their feet and mouth tend to get stuck in it. They do need a very high humidity so getting wet is not a problem. Actually to tell you the truth, a 20 gallon high tank is the minimum you are supposed to put 1 adult crested in. So even putting 1.1 cresteds in a 20 high would be pushing it. The rule is usually 20 high for 1 adult and 10 more gallons for each adult crested after that.
