how soon can a hatchling leave??? >>>

Cleopatra Aug 05, 2003 01:40 PM

well, Pixie is scheduled to go to a new owner sometime this month. her owner leaves for college at the end of August so she has to be ready by then. Pixie was hatched i think 2 weeks ago in mid-late July. i was thinking of keeping her until around the 20th of August...do you think that is enough time??? she is eating pretty good (about 2-3 mealies a night) and getting bigger (some spots are appearing on her tail). Pixie and Katrina have stopped hissing so much and now opt for running from me when they see my hand, so we are making progress.
Katrina will be staying with me...

five grams seems low someone on this forum did say fifteen.

five grams will be fine. as long as they are well started eating and everything, the size shouldnt matter. i would wait till they've been eating regularly for like 2 weeks atleast.

I also believe someone said "a good breeder would wait til the gecko is 15 grams"...I have to disagree with that.
Just because a gecko is sold under 15 grams (above 5 grams) doesnt make that person a bad breeder. If the gecko has been well cared for, then it should be just fine, and if the breeder feels comfortable with it...and also (if the gecko is shipped) how well the gecko is packed.
Just my opinion.
