have you guys ever seen a patterless like this???

nathan23 Aug 05, 2003 01:42 PM

I got him when I worked for a wholesaler. I picked him out of the whole batch because of how white he was. He actually looks whiter in person but the flash captured the pattern and what little yellow he has. Anyone sene one so white before? let me know what you think. Thanks.

peace,
nathan

nope its not fully grown. Its a sub adult. It has a huge appitite though. When i was holding it it bit me three times thinking my hand was food! Its a male and I plan on breeding it to a bunch of different females. Including a dark phase albino.

Oh wow.. I just got one yesterday that looks almost exactly like him.. Not sure if it's a him or a her yet though because I think it's only a couple of months old.. The name for now is Paddy.. Might get lengthened to Patrick or Patricia once the sex is obvious.. Here's a pic.. In person it's a little darker than yours and it has some yellow already on the sides of it's belly..

they never do

goalielocks Aug 05, 2003 07:12 PM

This is the reason they are known not to be Leusistic sp?

iluvblackfrancis Aug 05, 2003 07:34 PM

i don't think so. i've never seen a true leusistic that wasn't pure white. i'd like to know what the mutation in leusistic is? like amelanistic being no melan, what does the leusistic lack, or possible have extra?

leucistic just means without pigment and dark eyes but if you want to know how it works here is a definition from http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/clivehesford/terry/fallow01.html it is actually a bird website: Leucistic mutations correlate to mutant alleles of loci that control melanocyte life functions, in particular migration of melanoblasts (melanocyte precursors) from the neural crest in the embryo. Melanocyte has varied effects on pigment and is stimulated by a hormone known as MSH (melanocyte stimulating hormone) when the melanocyte causes the pigmentation to migrate to the eye either before the animal is born or later in lfe this is called leucism. It took me a while to track this down and twice as long to have some what of an understanding of it.

ahh, i finally understand, that makes perfect sense. thanks a bunch, ive been wondering this forever.

I'd like to see a pic of that, along with documented age. Can't say I believe it otherwise.

And the reason patternless are not leucistic is that leucistic are pure white with blue eyes.
