Bairdi not eating after cage change

jtclark Sep 17, 2006 07:54 PM

Well, I figured I would wait it out but finally thought I would ask for suggestions. I moved my corn into a 40 breeder and my bairdi into her old 20 long. This was 6 weeks ago and my bairdi has not eaten since. She is a good 3-3 1/2 feet which is too big for the 10 she was in. I have tried leaving her in a dark room overnight in her feeding cage. I also just tried leaving outside her favorite hide overnight and that didn't work either. I have tried smaller prey items as well.

I had never had problems with her before. She gets nervous if she sees movement so I always put her in a dark room when I feed her. She seems to be healthy. She is around the same age as my grey, and they have grown a bit differently. I'm sure it is just the difference in species. She grew thicker, and he grew longer but skinnier. He is now putting on some bulk.

So any ideas on what I should try? I'm considering putting her back in a smaller cage, but it is not big enough for her to really move around. I keep her on aspen with temp range of 72-84.

Thanks for any ideas you may have.(My hog went off feed for 8 weeks and has now eaten the last 3 so maybe it just takes time)
