New Photos - Anery Arab Albino & Leopard

ChristianC Sep 18, 2006 12:58 AM

Hello all, I had some fun today taking photos of a few boas from my collection. I am using a piece of white melamine for the background and it seems to be working well. I need to get a larger piece if I want to photograph any of my larger boas. It was very difficult keeping the hyper little boas still long enough to take a photo. Let me know what ya think.
Here is a cute little Leopard. Check out that crazy pattern!

Arabesque Het Albino

Anerythristic 66% Het Snow

And finally my 05’ albino finally starting to yellow up.

Thanks for looking

I don't know which I'm more jealous of, the arab or the leopard. Beautiful group of animals.

What kind of lighting did you use? I'm trying to improve my photographing skills

I used off-camera flash positioned almost directly over the melamine. I have a soft box diffuser that fits on the flash to soften the light. I also used custom white balance settings which is a tip i got from Ryan Homsey. Thank Ryan!

Wow even lillith's eyes (the coral albino there) look coral now. She even has a coral diamond on her forehead! What awesome snakes. What nice photography. What sort of lighting setup did you use?

Thanks,
Caden

Thank you for the kind words. The albino is really showing color. I could NOT keep her in one place long enough to get a full body shot. I'll be working on that. I need a larger peice of melamine. I have the lighting dialed in so you should bring a couple of your beauties over for a photoshoot. Still nothing beats natural sunlight to bring out the real colors. I tried to take photos of my super pink suri and could not capture the color even with this lighting set up. So far sunlight is the only light i have found that will bring out the pinks in photos. If anyone has any ideas i would love to hear them. I had a great idea to use a polarizor to cut the glare of the shinny scales and possibly bring out more color, but i have had little luck with that.
