MARS Show purchase

nvrr Sep 18, 2006 09:30 AM

Went to the MARS show this weekend in Timonium, MD. I ended up coming back with a couple of new critters, including a new albino rat. Question - he has a very goofy looking face - almost pug-nosed. Any ideas? Causes? Long term health care problems?

I also put up some other photos on my flickr site and my weblog (especially of a pretty Spalerosophis).

That pushed in face is indicative of him trying to push out of his cage. You see that in snakes that are agressively trying to find an escape. Make sure you give him a hiding place or two and that temps are correct. also, keep him well-fed and he may not be so active. I had a black rat hatchling years ago that did the same thing. He calmed down eventually and his head seemed to be normal. Good luck. It shouldn't really hurt him but it's not very nice looking.

Who did you get him from? George Miskimon or Bob McIvor? Do you have a full body shot. He almost looks as though he amel lavender. I know George is producing a lot of them right now but only selling them as amels, and I think Bob is producing them as well. Post a body shot, and I should be able to tell you. Nice animal though!

Here it is! He came from LLL Reptile in California - they brought it to the show for me.

Thanks
