FF question re: feeding thumbnails

caw Sep 18, 2006 01:56 PM

Hey all...I have a pair of D. imitators in a vertical tank (about 60 gallons) and have a quesion about feeding. Are there any tricks to getting the fruit flies in specific areas? It seems that when I tap the container to dislodge some flies into the tank, half of them just fall to the substrate as opposed to landing on the vegetation where the frogs can easily get to them. Any tips would be great. Thanks!

Any fruit flies that don't get eaten right away because of their initial location will get eaten after a while, when they show themselves. If you are really obsessed, you can fashion a big funnel, but that would be a bit excessive.

Thanks for the response.

What I have just started doing is tapping some flies out on the fly container lid and flinging them toward the back and side walls...so far this seems to work a little better of getting them where they need to be without seemingly to waste them...

the flies crawl upwards...to escape..so they will end up in teh veggitation eventually. and you frogs can go on teh hunt too...unless they are lazy...and if thats teh case...they prob dont need to eat fatties!
