Need advice...

I have recently completed my new BP cage made of 3/4" plywood. I only have to mount the glass now and pics will be up soon. I have a question for you all, though. I am wondering if I should put a uth inside the enclosure. I have an incandescent fixture on top with a 60w night glo and 100w household light bulb which heated my 55gallon enclosure perfectly. This was with the UTH though. I know the wood will hold the heat a little better, but should I still give him the belly warmth inside his cage? It's a 3'x2'x15" enclosure. I also have an emergency cutout for my clamp lamp, but I hate using it bc it doesnt have a switch. Any opinions will be greatly appreciated.

I also just finished a 3/4" plywood cage and I opted to go with a Ultratherm heat mat from the Bean Farm inside the cage. The 3/4" is too thick and didn't distribute the heat well enough. Although I do not use incasecent (sp?) bulbs in my snake cages.

Actually, I was planning on building up a second level about an inch above the floor, sticking my uth on the bottom of a piece of 1/8" glass, and mounting it to the raised floor. I just didnt know if it would be too much heat...well, I guess Ill just try it an see...thanks for input...

Whatever you do you should regulare the heat with a dimmer or thermostat. I use heat tape inside the enclosure. If you do that just be sure to seal it down really well so spills don't cause problems.

Nice cage by the way.
