too much of a good thing?

I have an adult pair of balls that just started mating a couple weeks ago. I've read that when you keep a pair together, the male's "ardour" cools, and supposedly my chances of them mating lessen when they're kept together.
This morning is the second time I've woken up and they've been locked up, but I suspect they may be doing it more often when I'm not home or not awake.
My male was his usual extremely active self up until a couple days ago (I'm still handling them almost every day), when he became rather sluggish and just seems tired. Both snakes are refusing to eat, although in a few days I'm going to offer food to them, just in case.

My question is, when he's in with the same female, will he breed her as often as he can, to the detriment of his health? I'd read that the male will do that when introduced to different females, but nothing about the same one, which he's lived with for a month and a half before the breeding season even started.

I'd like to keep housing them together (the two of them in their setup just look awesome) but if he's going to be breeding himself to death I'll seperate them.

Thanks for any help!

definitly seperate them, your lil guy needs a rest, most people only allow theirs together for 2-7 days, and most snakes will go off food while breeding anyway. but you "should" keep them seperated though. give him a break 3 in 3 out, offer food when seperated and good luck.

Yeah, I thought so. When I get home from work tonight I'll seperate them, since they're still goin at it. wish my boyfriend lasted this long...
