The blue guy is a 2-time breeder, courtesy of Lindsay. The green guy is still young, courtesy of Doug.

Ornates LOVE to climb & get close to the lights.

DragonDavy Sep 20, 2006 09:14 PM

They look great Arredondo.
I ordered a Pair today from Doug Dix and Deer Fern Farms. Can't wait to get the little buggers.

Arredondo Sep 20, 2006 09:24 PM

Super!!! We'll stay a'waiting your updates! There's just nothing like opening up that over-night critter package, is there?

DragonDavy Sep 20, 2006 09:56 PM

Its always great to get mail with live goods.

Doug seem like a great guy, he talked to me for almost an hour about the ornates.

No one wants to show there Ornates off on this forum, you have some nice ones. How many do you have Arredondo??

el_toro Sep 21, 2006 01:14 AM

>> No one wants to show there Ornates off on this forum,

My pair aren't as colorful as some. The pictures are also available in the photo gallery with a search for "ornate uromastyx". But since you ask, here are mine.

Nice pair.
I did a search but didn't find to many.
Would love to see set ups of there cages.

el_toro Sep 21, 2006 12:53 PM

I don't have a shot of Shazzbot's cage but here's Scuttlebutt's (they can't be housed together as she's a nasty little punk). The rocks are secured so he either can't dig under them OR he can get under them safely. He spends a surprising amount of time on top of that upright rock in the corner. He also occasionally wedges himself in gaps in the driftwood.

Good looking set up el_toro, she must be very happy.:D

Arredondo Sep 21, 2006 08:18 PM

They both look uniquely gorgeous to me!!

Arredondo Sep 21, 2006 08:06 PM

Just seven right now. And we're by no means qualified to expound on their care. Every day is a challenge & a learning experience. Just about the time you think all is cool, one or more will present issues. Most are minor, some are real headaches.

DragonDavy Sep 21, 2006 08:51 PM

Its all good.
I'm ready for them, I'm not new to reptiles and Uro's. It's always a live and learn thing when it comes to reptiles.
I almost have the new Ornates I'm getting set up done. I will take lots of pic's.

DragonDavy Sep 21, 2006 11:39 AM

I love that Blue Ornate on top pic.
Have any pics of your cages??

Arredondo Sep 21, 2006 08:15 PM

I'll post a couple cage picts this weekend. BTW, check out Boamaster.com. I'm impressed with Mark's snake cages & believe he could produce whatever a Urophile could hope for, as well.

DragonDavy Sep 21, 2006 09:01 PM

thats cool, I always love to see other peoples set ups.
I'll check out those cages from Boamaster.com sure.
I use Vision cages for the Uro's or stock tanks.
For my snakes I am starting to like the Vision rack systems, but I am still testing them out.
I also have these Matrix racks that are made out of wood but they don't make them anymore. I wish they did, because I love these racks. I might start to do my own for my snakes.

Hi,

I have 1.2 ornates. I have had them since they were little in 2003. One of my girls laid her first eggs this year, and I promptly made a mess out of them. They are the friendliest species of uros that I have had, they act like puppies, always waiting to be scratched or picked or, or better yet, fed.
I'm sure you would love to have some. Good luck!

Pam

Pam, what happened with your eggs? We, too, screwed up a batch this year. So easy to do!
