Just curious...what do you think?

Roe Sep 19, 2006 02:06 PM

I've had this het for albino Blood for well over a year...she's getting big, and I hope to breed her next year. I'm curious as to peoples' opinions as to whether she was misrepresented or not when I purchased her. Below are a couple of photos:

As represented in seller's photo:

My photo taken a couple of weeks after receiving (and this is her true color):

Perhaps just the idiosyncracies of a particular camera? Enhanced lighting? I have not complained at all about the snake, but have often wondered if I should have...

Thanks-
Jim Lineberger

did you get any paperwork or genitics guarantee on it when you purchased it?.

i have found that the lighting in the room in which the photo was taken has the most effect on coloration, flourescent lighting makes mine appear more colorful than she actually is and maybe they heightened the contrast?
I still think you have a very attractive snake that looks like it will get some nice color with age from what i've seen, but I havent had bloods very long so hopefully get get some other replies

Personally,I like your photo better. If the original photo was on the ad I would not have purchased that animal.I like lighter animals since bloods tend to get darker with age.I love her color and markings.I hope she proves out for you,and when she does I think she will make nice red albino's.

Hey,
It's very easy for people to make all sorts of claims and indeed, misrepresent their animals for the sake of a buck. That said, that is not to say that this person did anything wrong, but with this kind of purchase it is a good idea to have some kind of guarantee put in writing. It is just a good idea for future progeny that does not prove out to be as what was represented in the claim.

Second point, despite all of that momojumbo, that is one hot looking blood I have to say and there is nothing wrong with that snake even if it does not prove out. Though, I am sure that it cost you a good penny many-fold, to make that purchase. Hot hot hot!

I especially appreciate the comments on the snake. I have documentation of her genetics, and she was sold to me by a reputable breeder, so I am optimistic about her breeding potential.

I like the fact that folks on this forum are generally very positive thinking and upbeat...we need more of that.

All the best-
Jim

i think your photo looks a little washed out...just looking at the snake and the surroundings in general.

do you think the photo represented the snake?

...and the photo I shared is at least a year old. The snake hasn't darkened or reddened at all- still a dull brown. The original photo from the seller made me think the snake would become a dark red, and I paid a chunk for her. I guess you can't always predict adult color in Bloods.

I have 19 bloods and the intesity of there colors varies depending on the light they are exposed to. If you took your snake outside it would look very diffrent than it does under artificial lighting. They also tend to look there best right after a shed. Why after a year or so are you asking if you should have complained? You paid good money for a het albino and if it was a breeder w/ a good rep you have no reason to suspect that its anything but a Het so why doubt its breeding potential? I have never met any breeder who garuntees adult coloration. Anyways its a good looking snake and will make you some nice albinos down the road.
