Mexican black question

biff1111 Sep 19, 2006 04:24 PM

Hi all, new to the forum not new to the hobby. Just acquired a young male Mexican black king and have been looking all over for its native habitat and how to best reproduce that in a 55 gal tank. Obviously I have adequate room but what I am shooting for is as close to a natural environment for the snake as possible.
ie, substrate, flora, any suggestions? Ideas? Anyone have a decent set-up similar to what I am looking for? I just want to create an environment the is as natural as possible for this guy. Always wanted one and now I have one. So trying to do "right" by him.

P.S. His name is buttercup........I couldn't help it jet black, almost evil looking and name him...him mind you.....buttercup. It's my twisted humor.

Desert scenario with rock hides. Southern Arizona/Mexico. Show the little bugger when you get a chance! Welcome aboard!
