alligator laws in florida

i was curious if like you had to have a permit and how much etc.. to own a gator in florida and where to get it if needed i was curious if the cheniese alligator required a permit to or if it is not even available in the pet trade

The only way in the State of Florida to posses American Alligator's is for resale. They can not be kept as a pet and you must have a Florida Class III license to exhibit and sell reptiles. All other crocodilian species require the Class II license which is a bit harder to get.

Unfortunatly, only Caimans, Chinese aligators and dwarf crocs are class II. All other crocodilians are class I which makes it nearly impossible if I read the regs correctly (Class I says it excludes the Congo croc also, but I don't see it listed elswhere, so I don't know what it's deal is).
