Help - shed crusted over eye

bmulcahy Sep 19, 2006 08:18 PM

One of my class leopard geckos shed recently and I didn't notice that his shed wasn't complete. There is a patch over half his face covering one eye. It looks pretty crusty and felt pretty secure when I touched it. It is dried out and yellowish. The other eye is fine and the mouth is fine too. Any suggestions on how to remove it. It is hard to tell if the eye is damaged. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Take a Q-tip and damp it with water. Run it softly over it and it should come right off. Good Luck!

I agree, just wanted to point out that slightly warm water is better tolerated than room temp or cold water. Also just getting the shed moist by "dripping" (squeezing the end of the Qtip over the spot) is a good way to start. Good luck!

Thanks! It took about 15 minutes to get it off - very crusty and Geico wasn't happy. It also didn't help that my three-legged cat Tripod wanted to help.lol Tripod loves my Geckos, a few weeks ago she fell through my top screen and was sitting with my Geckos- they weren't too happy!
