of Blackwater Reptiles & Rattlesnake Outfitters - Cayce, SC. His death was not animal related. A true southern gentleman & revolutionary snakehunter, Mr. Taylor was a man that spent nearly fifty years of his life searching for snakes by working the land of Carolina farms, hunting clubs, and private properties at the requests of landowners. Always a man with a smile and an interesting tale, he lived to understand the behavior of these beautiful creatures as well as the actions of humans resulting from the “natural” interaction and coexistence with potentially deadly native creatures. It is a fact that many of these animals would have been slaughtered outright if it wasn’t for his very existence. He was a man who lived not only to understand but to educate as well. His catch records and cooperation with local agencies have possibly attributed to the lack of unnecessary laws and permits in regards to native fauna in SC. We would personally like to thank Bill Love for acknowledging & documenting Mr. Taylor’s efforts in the article entitled “BOYZ N THE HOODZ” featured in the May 2006 issue of REPTILES magazine. I do have a copy of his unpublicized book and hope his stories can be shared with the rest of the world in the future....Keith, you will be sadly missed but the fond memories you are responsible for will forever be cherished.
