Odd little Albino out of my BB project

Lucien Sep 20, 2006 08:58 PM

Really, this is one of the more amazing of things I've actually seen when it comes to my own leos. This was the little guy that was born that I thought was my Blazing Blizzard but turned out not to be at all..Indeed, his patterning and coloring turned out to be albino but the coloring is odd... the pattern is odd... its why there's got to be something in the genetics of my Blazing Blizzard project thats odd and off. Its kinda crazy. I don't even know if he should be labled an abberant... a reverse stripe, partial stripe..tang albino. ALL my albino's have ended up keeping the bright yellow coloring instead of turning darker like most tremper albinos do. They've kept their mother's tangerine albino coloring more and seem to only have white as their other color. But I don't know. I'm stumped with some of this stuff from this project. I hate to inbreed anymore but I believe out of the 2 albinos and the 2 odd blizzards I've gotten a 1.3 group altogether. But anyway, here's the pics of Invierno.. I'll include 2 pics from when he was first born so you can see the difference. Its amazing really.

Hatchling:

And now. He's been an on and off eater so he's thinner than I'd like but he's starting to pick up now that he's a little older. This first picture I had to play with the lighting background a bit since the flash washed everything out so it looks a bit odd...but you can see the pattern easier on him than in the other pics

Thats all of them. Interesting eh? We'll see what comes of it down the road this coming year.

Well I think you are onto something good in your breeding projects and I think it is temperaure related. Here is a link into Ron Trempers web site that will probably explain what happened. Also if you haven't read Ron's newest book, I would recommend it. It is fascinating reading for people like us.
