Many of us have and still do in AZ. There are general areas of AZ which have different herps. The most "famous" areas are the mountains of southeastern AZ mostly because there are some rattlesnakes there you can't find elsewhere in the US. Western AZ and SW AZ is a good area for roadhunting in the summer.

The best general time is after the rains come in July/August, although any of the warmer months (March-November) will produce herps.

Didn't pay attention to which forum you were posting in!

Hogs are not uncommon in SE Arizona in the grasslands between the mountain ranges. They are easier to come by in southern NM, but they aren't rare in AZ.

I went to SE AZ (in and around the Huachucas)during monsoon season this year hoping to see H.n. kennerlyi. Zilch. I'd like to get down there several times during "snake hunting season". I think rudimentary range amps are displayed for several snake species on www.reptilesofaz.com. Happy herping.
