Do they usually slither around and open their mouth randomly while smelling the air? Mine has been all day today. Does that mean he's hungry or something? He isn't striking at anything, just randomly opening his mouth.
Or is he trying to talk to me?

Mine yawn occasionally, but I only see them doing what you describe when they are chasing live prey.

Well he's not after any prey that I know of. I wonder if he's got something wrong
.
I hope not.
I've seen them randomly open their mouths with nothing to say (I keed, I keed).
After a meal they will do all sorts of yawns and burps and stuff. I've seen them do this prior to shedding as well, but accompanied by nose rubbing. Since it is active and feeding well I would say don't worry about it unless you hear wheezing or see mucous around the mouth or nostrils. Then I would get it to a good herp vet ASAP.
Good luck with it!
Thanks a lot. This little guy, or girl, is too cool. Hopefully it's just a part of his or her personality. Or something
.
