One of my erebennus hatchlings from July has started to develop an orange coloration ventrally where it was quite yellow. I am going to keep this one and see if it might get more red with time. It's a girl.

Beautiful! I like the large amount of light coloration on the head face and neck!
Although the color is washed out a tad on both snakes you can see the change in color in this picture. I got covered in poop getting this pic so a better one isn't on the agenda.

Very Nice ! Great Texans!
Were the parents so brightly colored?
They remind me of the ones CBR produced - what with the reb belly and all.

The adult male has pretty much a yellow belly, while the female is a bit more orange.
The CBR Texans are what prompted me to post this. The color change this young female seems to be undergoing makes me think the CBR snakes are legit. It also makes me think I should check into getting one of their males, as they are unrelated to my snakes.
I checked her out last night and found her shed skin. The skin itself is orange! The snake itself was back to a vibrant yellow belly.
The snake oil was orange as well. Has anyone seen this before? I am a bit concerned about the origin of this pigment. I work in a medical lab so I will see what I can determine (bilirubin? bacteria?)but the snake really seems healthy. She is the biggest of the clutch, over 100 grams already.
No red-belly Texans here...maybe I'll start feeding her quail stuffed with carrots...
Above is a comparison of the skin in question and a normal erebennus skin.
Below is the snake's post shed color.
Thanks for looking.

Dang!
That is sort of odd for a shed skin color.
Maybe she got a big dose of carrotene somehow?
Hope she's OK.
One of these days I may get a wild hare and drive up to Colombus to see w/mine own eyes....
