sick sulcata, very worried

greenday1880 Sep 21, 2006 09:32 AM

I have a 25 pound male african sulcata and he is having problem with one of his eyes. His one eye is swelling over and he keeps on trying to itch it by pulling into his shell. At first I thought it was an allergy so I brought him in the house and set him up in a baby pool for a few days thinking it would go away. Its still swollen and it looks like it is draining a fluid also. Is there anything I can do or should i just bring him into the vet ?

sometimes my sulcata kicks up dirt into his eyes. normally it works itself out, but sometimes needs a rinse. as long as his breathing is normal and his appetite is good and he has no stuff coming out his nose or mouth, he probably just got something in there. try flushing it out. if that doesnt work, get some medicated opthalmic ointment from vet. good luck!
