in fact for about 10 years and just purchased semi-adult tangerine giants. Never had this prob before in even juveniles but these guys are hiding all the time. Purchased last Sunday at a reptile show. The temps are correct. No brite lighting. I'm keeping them in a natural vivarium with the rocks , wood and one artificial plant. Maybe to much cage furniture ? The cage is a 55 gallon Oceanic Lizard Lounge. I have one of the vent light fixture application installed for a red spot light for heat source in the middle with both ends being cooler. Maybe expecting to much to soon ? Thanks.

Well, on one hand they are probably still getting used to the area. Another reason could be they weren't very well socialized by the former owner/breeder. Still another reason is, at least I've noticed, that adults really do hide a lot. I'm leaning towards the first or the last reason. I wouldn't worry.

You also might want to consider moving your heat source to one end in order to get a broader temperature range, IMHO. This will also encourage them to keep moving to different hiding spots and therefore being a bit more active. Good luck!
