What does it mean when a cham. only sheds it's head area??? Is this bad. They are about seven months along, veileds and have every other time been doing full body sheds now his last shed was just his head and then about a week later he shed by his back legs. Tell us a little bit about your husbandry routines? How often do you mist as well as water? What is the enclosure like? How much foliage and vines do you have in with him? How often do you give lukewarm baths? Do you have digital thermos and humidity readers and if so what are the levels you are keeping?

He is in a vivarium that is 2X2X4 ft, the 100 gallon one, with a 150 watt heat bulb and a repti sun flourenst bulb. He is misted twice daily and also gets ice cubes in the morning to drip throughout the day. Temp at the basking area is a consintent 95-100 and drops to 70 at the bottom of the cage. Humidity stays around 50-60 percent. ( Never drops below 50 ) He has numerous fake plants and branches all through the cage and also has a large pothos at the bottom that he enjoys munching on. I've never give baths??? I havent ever heard of that before. Feeding he usually will get 10, 1/2 inchers in the morning and 10 at night. We used to dust every time and that was when they were shedding great. Now I've read that you should only do it 2 or 3 times a week and that's what we've been doing. He acts fine eating, drinking, I'm just worried about his shedding.
I think that's all you asked about any help is greatly appc.
Thanks

If one of my chams has a difficult time in shed, I typically take a Tupperware container and put about an inch to an inch and a half of lukewarm water in it and gently rub this skin. NEVER pull off dry skin that is difficult to remove. Moisten his skin and gently slide the skin off. When giving a bath make sure it is a monitored event so your cham does not drown or suffocate. This also will help in the event of clearing up constipation. In which you will gently rub the sides of the stomach and slowly work your fingers down the body, forcing the feces to come out. He may have just had a poor shed this time though. Sometimes that does happen.

sorry but the amount of food fed seems extraordinary to me,doesn't it?As far as I know several people are very careful not to get their veileds overweight...
