Anyone know anyone in research...

lele Aug 05, 2003 04:26 PM

...that would do a full work up Bart's little body in the name of science? I have emailed one possible source but thought I would put it out to you all as well. The $175 is simply prohibitive to me but I would be willing to donate him to scientific research (not someone at home with a scalpel and dissecting microscope) for the further knowledge of this species. I would only ask for the results and if possible his remains so he could be burried with Makeda and Kaiya - this is all so morbid.

Just a thought....

First off lele...I have to say I am so terribly sorry to hear about Bart!
I was really holding out that the little guy was going to pull through.

I wish we could all be together, and give you a collective chameleon family hug!!

About your question: Have you contacted Dr. Ivan at mythical chameleons?

Or over at chamresearch? I don't know if he has any experience with your little Bart's species...but he might know something.

Good luck lele....

Dr Ivan Alfonso is terrific. I can't say enough good things about him.
I actually travel about 100 miles to see him when my chams get sick. Luckily I am close enough to Orlando so I can do that.

ohmyGOD! You KNOW him??? You are SO lucky! I have to converse with him on line! You are soooo fortunate!

Did you see my post to you below? Asking about how you feed your "problem child" as you call him.(assuming it's a him)

I still can't believe you actually KNOW Dr. Ivan. I wish there was someone near me with even 1/10th of the cham knowledge he has!!!

I drive over an hour and a half to his office. He is great with reptiles of all kinds. I wish he had been the first to see my Beardies. The vets where I live have not been the greatest. I hope he can save them at this point but I think it may be too late for my male.
He is also super nice and will go the extra mile to look up new research to find a solution or a cure.

I'm about an hour from Orlando...I might just have to take this little girl down to visit him if I can. Do you know how I can contact his office to make an appointment???

Thanks!!!

Hi Kristen,

I wish I had an expert up here. My vet is nice but not too well-versed in leaf chams (or chams in general from some of the advice he gave...)

ANYWAY, I am emailing Dr. Ivan right now about the necropsy thing. His site is below and email is: DVM@mythicalchameleons.com

I would get her eye checked - take no chances!
