breeding

becky2731 Sep 22, 2006 09:06 AM

I posted on the gecko general forum, but got no replies. Hopefully I have better luck here. I have a 5 y/o CB female AFTG. This weekend I bought a CB male AFTG ~he's 7 months~. I was wanting to breed them (probably this winter). My female has never been breed and she is my baby! so I was wondering if her age would add any complications? I know that they generally live between 15-20 years, so logically it seems that should be fine breeding at this age. I'm just looking for some resassurance. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

as long as she's of proper wieght and health she should be perfectly alright with it. ive heard of some people who's breeders r up into the teens and tehy still produce. their amount drops off as they get older but their still capable.

One of my females is now 8 years old and she is still mating and laying eggs regularly. I've heard that they start to slow down around this age but she has not as of yet.
