>"Females must cycle before they can breed. They understand all you have to do is look at a female and you can tell if she has cycles. Or, you can palpate for reproductive evidence. You can easily feel ovum and or eggs. When a female palpates ovum, there is no guessing, you simply add a male and mating will occur(if the male is healthy."< Frank, exactly what are you feeling when you're palpating for ovum? Exactly how would I know if my female has started cycling and is ready to mate? Thanks. Kevin

about the "females must be cycled"....it ain´t totally necessary it is..??
i´ve seen this sinaloans in a zoo. They keep 5 in the same enclosure....there´s no cycling at all..they are kept at the same temps the whole year....and they still breed really well. Large clutches, and high fertility.
So...they can develop folicles without cycling.
If as you said reabsorving eggs can be a problem, and is somehow worse than breeding them....then all the females that are not bred will suffer that?? they will ovulate wether you cycle them or not...

In my opinion a motorcycle would be better. hehehehehehe

Difinitions;

Hibernate is to force cool or cold temps on a animal, with snakes and many reptiles, in an attempt to cause a reproductive cycle.

hibernate, to offer cool or cold temps and allow a reptile to pick between cool and warm temps.

the Cycle, a female that starts, goes thru and completes a reproductive process. a reproductive cycle.

To Cycle, is using a tool such as hibernation, photoperiod, raincycle, in an attempt to cause a female to enter her reproductive cycle.

As you know, hibernating does not mean a female will cycle. You also know, its not needed to allow a female to cycle. For your information, I do not hibernate reptiles. I simply allow them to choose between whatever temps they want. Year around. I do not use photo period or raincycle. Yet, I am known for breeding reptiles of many kinds and amoungst them, some of the hardest to captive produce.

Your question was brillant as most have no idea what any of this means.

The person or persons who coined the term, to cycle in reference to cooling, are a bunch of idiots. Whoops, I was one of them. Dang that sucks. Cheers

let your female crawl over your flat hand on the floor, or between your fingers with a very light presure. You will be able to feel bulges for each ovum on the underside of her belly. That means she is ready to go. If you have a bunch of kings to compare what youre feeling its easy to learn but if you only have a few, it can be hard to figure out what your feeling for.
