Clipping Nails???

Is there a special way to clipping toenails. My savannah has gotten a little sharp so what should I do?

I don't think clipping nails is the way to go at all. It would be better to provide deep dirt for digging and climbing furniture that will wear the nails in a natural way.

Sharp claws are a monitors tools/weapons, so that is something you should get used to. Many people use leather gloves of some sort when handling their sharp-clawed critters.

Clipping nails can be an iffy proposition for anyone. I recommend using an nail file to dull the points first. If you do feel the need to clip his nails I use regular nail clippers and hook only the tip of the nail and clip. Nip the Tip!

I also recommend examining and getting to know the nail before you clip. You should notice under the nail something white in color; this is where the nail attaches to the toe. Cut into this and you got one ticked off animal and some bleeding. It is also, a good idea to have 2 people - one to hold the animal and the other to clip.

Last, make sure you have the animals legs in a comfortable position. With the legs to the their side, bottom of the feet facing up.
