Thanjavur: A snake-charmer who was brought to a police station for inquiry in connection with a complaint against him was bitten to death by the reptile here on Monday.
According to police, the victim, Gunasekaran (45),of Adaikara Street near Maharnombuchavadim had been allegedly sexually torturing his relative Sundari.
Based on a complaint lodged by Sundari at the All Woman Police Station, the police took him to the station for the inquiry. As he was keeping a bag with him, the police personnel, out of curiosity, enquired what was inside the bag and he replied that there was a snake inside.
Startled by the answer, the police ordered him to release the snake outside the police station.
When Gunasekaran inserted his hand into the bag, the reptile stung him. Gunasekaran who was rushed to the Thanjavur Medical College Hospital was declared brought dead.
