Interesting Pastel/het Genetic Stripe

AllstarMorphs Sep 22, 2006 08:30 PM

Below is a picture of a pastel/100% het. for genetic stripe that we produced this past season. She clearly demonstrates an interesting trait we have been noticing with the hets. we’ve produce over the last few years. 50% to 70% of our hets. have shown the same trait. Can you tell what it is? Has anyone else working with genetic stripes noticed anything like this? Can’t wait to see what she produces!

My Hets and poss hets are cool looking but they look pretty normal.

Beautiful!

Is it the floating pattern and white blushing coming up from the stomach?

Well done...
Chris sent wind of the clutch.
That was my hope when I got my 50% het's from Bob... and my pastel project..
I knew it would be a sweet combo...
I do think the striping is one of the reasons why your Gen.stripe looks so nice.
Now, I have to find a home for 5 50% hets.
lol

Thanks!! Having seen the hets you know what I'm talking about. However, this is the most dramatic one yet. Her dorsel stripe only has two breaks.

Very cool.

Are you referring to the KILLER dorsal stripe on that girl??

Reason I guess that is the majority of Pastels I've seen tend to lean more in the direction of blackback than dorsal striped.

Maybe your particular colony/group of genetic stripe and hets throws a 'lesser' version in the het form?? Hmm...

Alot of Corns het for Caramel (hyperxanthism) show more yellow pigments than normals but less than homo Caramels. Same goes with het for Bloodred corns with regard to red pigments.

I'm sure there are more examples in herpetoculture of recessive traits exhibited to a lesser degree in het animals, but it's laaaaaate and my brain is foggy/sleepy.

Thanks for looking.

Her dorsel stripe only has two breaks. I've seen other animals being sold as "stripers with alot more breaks than any of the hets I've produced that show this trait. The other hets showing this trait also have a lighter coloring to them. Can't wait to breed them and see how this effects their offspring.
