Dicephalous black milk

nategodin Sep 23, 2006 09:27 AM

Hello,
Well, after reading the pros and cons in the "To slit or not to slit" thread below, I decided to take the plunge and open up the last egg in this year's gaigeae clutch. Here's what I found inside... I always thought it would be neat to have a dicephalous snake, but apparently this one was just too deformed to be viable. There are two large kinks where the "necks" join, and a couple other kinked/twisted sections further down its body. I think I'll bring it down to the lab where I work and have it preserved in formalin. Its name will be Oscar... too weird to live, too rare to die.

The seven others in the clutch are all doing fine, I'll probably post some pics of them soon. Sonny, my male breeder, is up to 70" and should probably make an appearance in the "Show me your huge black milk" thread too.

Nate

Interesting find there. I have 3 black milks currently, two near yearlings and a 2 year old that's nearing 48"...
