Could snake be sick or not

TBL Sep 24, 2006 01:00 AM

I'm a newbie for one. I bought a "Neon Orang Ratsnake", where a breader in the area brings snakes for them to sell, it is a female and she is two years old, I have had her for a week and a half, good heat, newspaper papertowel substrate, nice size water bowl, fake plactic plants for her to hide under.

Question: She bathroomed the same day I got her home, and there was a little solid matter, but there was more of it in a black and white liquidie form. Second time she bathroomed in the same week, it was black and white liquid form, all this was in the same week that I got her, and the store had already fed her.

She drinks water fine, and today was the first time that I have feed her since I got her and she ate fine. Should I be concerned about the bathrooming mentioned above.

Should it be that liquidy instead of solid.

It is a female and she is so sweat, and she just likes to kind of cuttle with you.

If you're worried you could always take a sample to the vet for a fecal float, I think there are some parasites that cause runny and/or stinky stool, but I didn't really get to learn a lot about reptile medicine when I was interning at a vet clinic...

Do you remember who the breeder was or from which state?

I'm also looking at getting a neon ratsnake.

Regarding the poop, it sounds normal. Poop is usually a combination of liquid and solid (the poop and pee together).

Anything too firm or too liquidy may be a problem, but nothing to worry about as long as the snake is eating and otherwise behaving normally.
